93,300 state servants to be laid off in three years – Kudrin.
MOSCOW, June 22 (Itar-Tass) —— As many as 93,300 state officials will be laid off in the next three years, which will help save up to 33 billion roubles a year, Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said on Wednesday.
According to the minister, a total of 23,300 civil servants will be reduced in 2011 alone.
“As many as 33 billion roubles on an annualized basis will be saved, of which 16.5 billion will be used to pay wages to the remaining state servants, while the rest of the sum will go to finance other economic measures,” he said.
Kudrin spoke about the implementation of the three-year state servant redundancy program. The program targets to reduce the number of state servants by 20 percent.
“As of now, the plan is implemented as scheduled,” he told Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Civil service cuts to save Russia 33 bln rubles per year - Kudrin
MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax) - Civil service cuts will save Russian 33 billion rubles per year in time, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin, who is also the country's finance minister, said at a meeting of the government presidium.
Kudrin said 93,300 or 20% of the country's 463,000 bureaucrats and civil servants would be made redundant in the next three years.
"As a result we'll save 33 billion rubles per year by the third year of the cuts. Half of that will go on pay for those who are left, and half on social measures in the framework of optimizing budget expenditure," he said.
